Immigration Law Becomes Political Battle in Supreme Court

Reuters reports the Supreme Court will hear a case regarding Arizona’s controversial immigration law passed in 2010. Court challenges and appeals have worked through the federal court system and the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in April. A ruling will likely be announced in July.

Luther Strange proposes throwing out parts of the immigration law to make it easier to defend and to ‘remove burdens on law-abiding citizens.’ The top legal official in the state with the country’s toughest immigration law has suggested throwing out parts of the law after challenges by the federal government and strong protests by rights and business groups.
