In a June 25 story, The Associated Press reported that Arizona’s new immigration law requires police to check the immigration status of anyone suspected of being in the country illegally. The story should have made clear that police can question people about their immigration status during traffic stops or other suspected violations if there is “reasonable suspicion” they are in the country …

Immigration law backers rally near Ariz. Capitol

PHOENIX (AP) — Several hundred people rallied near the state Capitol Saturday to show their support for the new Arizona law that’s aimed at curtailing illegal immigration. It’s the third straight weekend that supporters have gathered to show their approval of the law, which goes into effect July 29.
